Inspiration

All forms are round because they are made on the wheel.
The very remarkable sculptures have been worked down to the smallest detail and evoke a sense of movement, show a dancing character.

The artist loves simple forms and tactile surfaces.
She is inspired by unconventional forms combined with subtle treatments of the skin.

Together, they create a harmonious whole that fascinates and captivates the viewer.

Technique

The surfaces are often worked with a structure of lines that are cut or carved with a knife, or worked with painted markings and lines, or with patches of porcelain applied to the stoneware clay.
Shiny surfaces contrast with matt, silky surfaces with grooves.

What is characteristic is the relatively small footprint in all her pieces.

The openings of her vases are usually recessed and accentuated with gold or silver leaf.

Christiane Wilhelms art needs to be explored and demands intense study from the viewer.
